A great way to incorporate a healthy exercise routine is by taking lots of steps throughout the day. While most smartphones can track and report your steps via a third-party app, you can check them right from your home screen if you have a OnePlus phone.

To get started, swipe from right to left on the default OnePlus Launcher home screen to access the "Shelf." Now, tap the gear shaped icon in the upper right, locate the "Step counter" option, then flip the switch to the on position.

Hit the back arrow once to return to the main Shelf screen, then the physical activity permission request should pop up. Tap "ALLOW" to enable the setting, then you should see the "Step counter" section on your Shelf appear at the top. Now you can access your steps simply by swiping from right to left on your home screen at any time — no other apps required. Time to set a new step goal!

If you have a fresh install of the OnePlus Launcher, the physical activity permission will be triggered when you open the Shelf menu for the first time. In this case, you won't have to go into the options to enable the setting since it'll be all set from there.
